Theatro Circo (Sala Principal)
Commissioned by INDEX 2026 and the Dutch festival Rewire, visual artist and sound researcher Lawrence Abu Hamdan and the post-jazz band Supersilent come together around the work of Earshot—the first nonprofit organization dedicated to the study of sound for the defense of human rights and the environment, founded by Hamdan in 2023. The performance focuses specifically on Palestine and Earshot’s investigation into attacks on journalists by Israeli forces, using as source material the final images captured by surveillance cameras in Palestinian territory before or during their destruction.

Supersilent
Founded in the late 1990s in Norway, Supersilent brings together Arve Henriksen, Ståle Storløkken, and Helge Sten in a collective dedicated to sound experimentation. For over 20 years, this collaboration between talented artists has embraced the unpredictable: a journey that spans from hardcore to industrial soundscapes, all the way to the most subtle ambient music. Each concert is unique and unrepeatable, with the group’s sound inhabiting everywhere and nowhere—somewhere between rock, electronic music, jazz, and modern composition.
Lawrence Abu Hamdan
Lawrence Abu Hamdan is an artist, sound researcher, and founder of the nonprofit organization Earshot. He has presented his work in the form of forensic reports, testimonies, and live lecture-performances, as well as films, publications, and exhibitions around the world, including at MoMA (2023); the Sharjah Biennial (2019); the Venice Biennale (2019); and Tate Modern (2018). At INDEX 2024, he presented “Air Pressure” at Theatro Circo, based on Israeli military violations of Lebanese airspace, and “45th Parallel,” a study of the Hernández v. Mesa court case in the U.S. In 2019, he won the Turner Prize.
