Cemile Sahin (b. 1990, Germany) works across moving image, photography, and literature. Her practice critically engages with power structures, war, and violence. In her spatialized narratives, Sahin explores how media, politics, and warfare shape our understanding of history. Drawing on a pop aesthetic that fuses images, text, advertising, animation, and appropriated footage, she creates fragmented, fast-paced narratives — often charged with vivid color — that draw on the visual language of television, online media, and video games, while addressing urgent political issues such as the use of drones by corporations and authoritarian regimes.
“ROAD RUNNER” (2025) is a science fiction thriller that follows two sisters caught between the physical and virtual worlds in a dystopian future dominated by killer drones. The protagonist, Bêrîtan, struggles to free her sister from digital captivity. The work brings together narrative strategies from film, television, video games, and social media platforms.
