This conversation takes place in Portuguese

According to José Gil, philosophy seeks the reality that makes a world possible. It is through this quest that the Portuguese philosopher has explored a wide range of themes throughout his career, which has recently included an incisive analysis of issues surrounding technology and its relationship with politics and art. The omnipresence of Big Tech and the influence it exerts on the realm of reality, as well as the political and social paradigm shift brought about by Artificial Intelligence technologies, will be the topics of a presentation by José Gil, followed by a conversation with the columnist and literary critic António Guerreiro.

José Gil was born in Mozambique and studied philosophy in Paris, completing his Doctorat d’Etat with a dissertation titled “O corpo como campo do poder”. He taught Philosophy at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, the Collège International de Philosophie in Paris, the New School for Dance Development in Amsterdam, and the University of São Paulo (PUC).
