The use of multiple artistic techniques and disciplines and, simultaneously, a conceptual foundation that challenges hierarchies, conventions, and power structures is common to the work of P.Staff and the ZABRA collective. As part of the INDEX program, they will present a series of works that share a narrative and poetic sensibility, while also questioning the role of technology in our times, realised through performance, video, and holograms. Building on these proposals, curator and researcher Alexandra Balona will lead a conversation about artistic creation as a tool for articulating new narratives and power relations.
ZABRA
ZABRA – Center for Post-Human Art Research conducts research in media arts—encompassing other disciplines such as the performing arts, visual arts, and new media—where technology plays a crucial role in the production or representation of artworks and their impact on the future of society. Through a transdisciplinary approach and an interspecies dialogue, it explores post-nature in contemporary creation and encourages each artist-researcher to develop their own interpretation of art, technology, and science.
P. Staff
P. Staff is an artist based in Los Angeles and London. Through video installations, sculpture, and poetry, her work explores the power structures that produce and define the living and the dead. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as the Bonner Kunstverein in Germany; the Kunsthalle Basel in Switzerland; the MoCA in Los Angeles; and the Chisenhale Gallery in London. Her work is included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; LUMA Arles; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Julia Stoschek Foundation in Düsseldorf.
